ULTRA VIOLET | SELF PORTRAIT

ULTRA VIOLET | SELF PORTRAIT

$40.00

This limited edition 2 disc set contains private conversations with Andy Warhol and original songs by Ultra Violet.

The mania of the 60’s was recording. Whether it was recording telephone conversations with her lover Dali or rehearsals with her friend Richard Currier, Ultra Violet was always recording. These audio archives were soon forgotten, boxed up, and left to clutter her staircase for over 40 years until November 2013 when Refinersfire began the process of digitizing the 67 reel to reel tapes. Here is the never before released "Famous for Fifteen Minutes" -- a song that will prove to be the iconic soundtrack of Warhol's Factory -- as well as intimate conversations where Ultra and Andy talk about police harassment, their films, the business of art, the RFK assassination as well as Valerie Solanas' attempt on Warhol's life.  More than just a "self-portrait" of an individual, these discs are portraits of a vanished era.
